Get Tennis Widget Pre-Release Announcement

Pre-Release Announcement

A Widget is a mini application that can be placed on any web site very easily. Widgets were first made popular for applications like showing the current weather on your web site. You may also be familiar with the IBM Grand Slam Widget in the TennisConnect Pick & Click Editor.

We have built a "Get Tennis" widget that we will be implementing on as many popular consumer web sites as possible. The Get Tennis widget reads our national tennis database to give consumers a simple and interactive way to find your tennis programs, facilities, retail shops, demo racquets, playing partners etc. Being listed in the widget is a tremendous opportunity for you to promote your business.

There are two ways to get into the national tennis database. As a TennisConnect customer it is automatic, but you should review your details to make sure they are current.  Please visit the Get Tennis Widget preview web site to review your details (programs, facility, retail operations, etc)

Pre-Release Opportunity

I would appreciate your feedback on the widget, and also encourage you to review / update your programs and facility / retailer details for accuracy.  All you have to do is log in to TennisConnect.org and keep your information up to date - and the national database will be up to date.

Notes:

  • Find-A-Program: This is the most popular query in our current search forms. Consumers search for "programs" more than any other search by a factor of 20:1 (3 million queries last month alone).

  • Any events that you publish through the online calendar will automatically appear in the search results (as long as you have checked the box to "Share on Partner Web Sites").  Note that when a consumer searches for your program they are linked directly to the event on your calendar pages - so it is important to provide a robust marketing description on the calendar, not just on a higher level page.

  • Find-A-Coach: will show any Staff / Employee listed as a Tennis Pro.  There is another way to list local coaches who are not on staff.  We will be providing that documentation during our formal roll-out.

  • If you need help implementing the TennisConnect eCalendar (to list your programs) please contact us at support@tennisconnect.org.
