Copying and Pasting in TennisConnect
Paste     Making Corrections     Hire an ASP     Reporting Errors     Known Issues     Related Articles

All software programs (except notepad.exe) embed certain hidden control characters and "code" that is not displayed to the viewer.  These special control characters can have a negative effect on proper formatting for the Internet - so it is important that you "clean" any content before you paste it into the TennisConnect Editor.

Once you have selected / copied the content you want, open the TennisConnect Editor and click where you want the content to be pasted (also known as the insertion point).

Look for the applicable Paste icon on the TCOEditor toolbar before clicking on Paste or CTRL +V

Desktop products like MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and even web based products like Gmail

Paste

There are three options to paste into the TCOEditor:

This is the General Paste icon.  TCOEditor will paste "as is".  You may need to clean up the formatting later

Paste as Plain Text.  This will open a pop up dialogue box where you can paste (CTRLl +V) content and TCOEditor will remove all embedded formatting.  This is the "cleanest" way to paste content, however you will have to re-apply any desired formatting (Bold, Italic, Fonts, Bullets, Spacing, etc)

Paste From Word (or any MS Office application).  This will pop up a dialogue box where you can paste (CRTL +V) content and the TCOEditor will remove most of the MS Word proprietary (.mso) code and try to replace it with proper HTML for presentation.  Based on your version of MS Word and your use of Word Styles for formatting, this may or may not "paste" properly formatted content fot he Internet.  You should preview your changes to see what the pasted content will look like in a web browser.  Choose the Preview icon to see

Making Corrections / Adjustments

Images will never "paste" correctly unless you are copying and pasting them directly from a web page.  This is because desktop applications like MS Word store the image on your hard drive, and the references to the file on your hard drvie will not be available to your web site visitors.

You must first upload the images to your web site where they can then be accessed by any web browser.  For instrcution upoading images click here (or click the Isert / Edit Image function on the TCOEditor tool bar:

Exception:  You may frequently paste images that are copied directly from a web page because the underlying "code" that you are pasting will often contain the "path" to the image.  Images you copy from www.tennisconnecttemplates.org have this property and will always work for you.

Caution:  If you copy and paste an image from a web page the TennisConnect editor inserts the "path" to the image on the original web server.  Your image links will be broken if the image is subsequently deleted by the originating web site author.  To gaurd against this, copy the image to your PC and upload it to your TennisConnect database, then you will have a "safe" copy of the image and the lniks will never be broken.

NOTE:  Images at TennisConnectTemplates.org are there for life so you do not need to worry about us deleting them or changing their path.  You should also make sure that you do not copy any copyrighted or otherwsie protected images without first obtaining permisssion from the rightful owner of the image.

All of the images on TennisConnectTemplates.org are royalty free and may be used and distributed freely.  All of the content in the TennisConnect Pick&Click Editor are available for use by TennisConnect customers subject tot he terms and conditrions outlines in the Pick&Click Editor.  Remember that no matter where or how you get an image or any web site content, you are always responsible for what you put on your web site.

Remove Formatting.  If your pasted text is not formatting correctly for the Internet you should remove the formatting for the offending content by highlighting it and choosing Remove Formatting  - and then apply the desired formatting using the TCOEditor.  While thiis may sound tedious, it saves you all the typing and rarely takes more than a few minutes.
