Pre-requisite: Please see the relationship between the Basic Settings page layout and the
Horizontal Navigation Bar
The Tennis Connect Basics section controls are used rather infrequently compared to the rest of the TennisConnect features. Once established they are rarely revisited, although you may change any controls at any time and will use the occasionally as you have new staff, email accounts, etc.
Setup wizard
The set up wizard will chain the 10 steps of the implementation process together.
1) Name and Address. Your business name and address. Please note that your business name will appear in the title bar of the browser on your consumer Mobile site. Desktop browsers will display the value from the Page Title in the Web Site Builder.
2) Contacts and Admin Login. The Contact Person should be the main business contact for the TIA. The Admin Username is your "Superuser" with full administrative rights and does not appear in your staff / employees listing. You should chaage your Superuser / Admin password here.
3) Billing information. This is the billing information for the TIA to bill you. It does not appear anywhere on your consumer site.
4) Amenities. This form starts to collect data that will later be used by your Tennis Court Scheduler (if applicable) and system generated "Facility Info" page (if used - you can also turn this page off at Basic Settings | Web Site Settings | #8 - Navigation Settings).
NOTE: We do not distinguish court surfaces of indoor courts here. Enter the total number of indoor courts, outdoor hard courts, outdoor clay courts, outdoor grass courts, and the total number of Outdoor lighted courts (we always presume indoor courts are lighted).
4B - Amenities - Swimming Pool
NOTE: We do not use this detail for anything. We use the top part of the form to populate the Facility Info page ( Basic Settings | Web Site Settings | #8 - Navigation Settings). At one time we were going to create a pool / lane scheduler (and we may in the future), but we do not use Pool Hours at this time.
4 C - Fitness
NOTE: We do not use this detail for anything. We use the top part of
the form to populate the Facility Info page ( Basic Settings | Web Site
Settings | #8 - Navigation Settings).
5) Staff and Employees
This is where you add Staff and Employees. For business considerations please see this article:
Adding Staff / Employees. For feature information please see continue with this article.
TennisConnect comes with 5 preset security "roles" or levels. Each Staff or Employee (TCO user) is assigned one "role" that governs their permissions.
You can determine the actual capabilities allowed by setting Employee Permissions and then assigning "employees" to the designated roles:
6) Email Mapping
You should never put your email address on a web site. Spammers have deployed 'bots (automated robot programs that scan for anything that looks like an email address, i.e.: __@__.___) that will harvest your email address and eventually you'll end up on too many spam lists to effectively use your email address.
To protest you from this, TennisConnect uses email forms to direct email inquiries to the correct contact in your organization. Since there may be more than one contact person based on the nature of an inquiry, we allow you to create several "send to" email addresses (send to general inquiry, send to league coordinator, send to camp host, send to John Doe, etc).
This is accomplished by a "wiring diagram" between the "contact us" form on your consumer web site and the "email address to send to" in your organization. This helps you improve customer service by routing email inquiries directly to the appropriate person without delay. It also builds consumer confidence by allowing customers to choose their contact type (which is also presented in the confirmation email so you know the source or origination of a lead from your web site).
There is an "email address to send to" for each "email contact" you build in Email Mapping.
Let's take a look at the end result first If you want the "Contact Us" form on your web site to have the following options, simply set them up on the administrative site in TennisConnect.
Consumer site example:
Entries in Basic Settings | TennisConnect Basics | # 6 Email Mapping:
NOTE that there are system generated email "addresses to send to" for General, Membership, Tennis, etc.... Simply leave these blank in TennisConnect to prevent them from being offered on your consumer site.
-
For convenience you may "choose from employee email" or simply type in the email address you wish to use
-
The email addresses do not need to be unique (the same email address can be re-used for several purposes)
-
You may also add email address "to send to". This can help you promote the uniqueness of your business or expedite email routing where you have different contacts for different leagues, programs, etc
- If you are curious about the CAPTCHA in the consumer form above (the squiggly QEBNB7), this is to prevent the spam-bots from abusing your site.
- If you were previously placing your email address on a web page (not recommended), you can still accomplish the same result but without compromising the confidentiality of your email address. Simply create a custom email contact for "your name" and hyperlink it to the Contact us form. For example, email me here.
7) Market Radius Settings
In the beginning of this project we documented the use of the logged in TennisConnect Home Page (click here to re-visit). The idea behind the "Home" page was for TennisConnect administrators to see a "snapshot" of your activities and the activities around you when you log in.
In markets where TennisConnect has significant market share, this helps tennis clubs coordinate dates, member / guest scheduling conflicts, or simply allows a tennis providers to broadcast their league and tournament schedule into a
user defined surrounding market radius.
If you do not wish for your events (eCalendar) to be broadcast to surrounding TennisConnect administrators, simply set the marketing radius to 0 miles. Similarly, if you want to promote an upcoming tournament or other event, set the radius to something like 150 or 200 miles.
The defaults are Tournaments 100, Leagues 40, clinics, 25 and camps 15. You may change these values at any time.
8) Registration Settings
TennisConnect allows you to personalize your visitor and logged in member experience in many ways.
